Why Does One AirPod Die Faster Than the Other?

If you are using a pair of Airpods, you may have asked yourself why does one die faster than the other? Fortunately, there are a few steps that you can take to ensure that you don’t have to worry about this problem.

Clean them

It is important to clean your AirPods to ensure they stay in good condition and to improve their performance. These devices are often used by people, so they can accumulate a lot of dirt and bacteria. This can affect the quality of sound, and it can even lead to earwax clinging to the headphones.

Fortunately, it is easy to clean your AirPods. All you need are a few basic tools. Using a dry cotton swab, a Q-tip, or a piece of putty can remove debris and gunk. For stains, you can use a dampened cloth or paper towel.

You should never submerge your earbuds in liquid. Some people may be tempted to do so, but this can cause damage. The speaker mesh of AirPods is extremely delicate. To protect it from breakage, avoid cleaning it with sharp objects.

You can also try using a disinfectant wipe. However, you need to use a lint-free cloth to ensure no residue is left behind.

A clean lint-free cloth can also be used to remove any remaining dirt from the charging case. If you have the time, you can use a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any finer debris.

When cleaning, you should be careful not to damage the charging ports. Dirt and lint can accumulate in these areas and can lead to problems when recharging the headphones.

After you are done, leave the headphones and case out of the charging port for several hours to allow them to dry. Once they are dry, you can start using them again.

You can use isopropyl alcohol to help clean the case. However, you should not get the alcohol inside the charging ports.

Store them in a temperature between 14o and 113o F

If you are a fan of the iPhone 6 or one of the many variants thereof you may have already stowed away your shiny new brethren. The good news is that you have the means of evicting the miscreants, and reclaiming your prized possessions. One caveat is that you are confined to your car and, if you are lucky, your neighbors, albeit, unobtrusively so. As such, you have the opportunity to get your bearings and see what the neighbourhood has to offer. This is where the novelty of opportunists tend to abound, but you need not fear the aforementioned thugs and jerks, who, by and large, are of no consequence.

Replace the microphone on both earphones

If you are using an AirPod with only one microphone, you may be wondering how long it will last. You probably also haven’t noticed, but AirPods’ batteries have a limited lifespan. After about a year, they’ll eventually begin to degrade. However, there are some things you can do to help prolong your AirPod’s battery life. First, keep an eye out for signs of damage to your charging case. Second, make sure you are not bringing out your AirPods too quickly. This will drain the battery, and will make the AirPods useless sooner than you think. Third, check out the Bluetooth settings to learn how to change the microphone settings. Finally, if you really want to save the battery, opt for an AirPod with an automatic microphone switching feature.

Change the mic on both earphones

The AirPods are made to last up to a year, but the batteries are usually dead after about a year or so. It may be due to using the device too much or using it in one ear more than the other. When you use the microphone on either of the AirPods, the other earbud is still used as the speaker. If you are having problems with the battery, you can try changing the mic on both earphones to make one die faster.

In Bluetooth settings, you can check the connections for each earbud’s mic. This can be changed to either side, or turned off completely. You can also turn the automatic option on to only allow one earpod to function as a microphone. By doing this, you will be saving the battery of the other earbud, which is what you want to do in the first place.

If the battery is running out, the most likely cause is using the earbud with the microphone more than the other earbud. If you have the AirPods set up in Automatic, this will cause one to be turned on more often than the other.
